Demolition Work starts on the £7 million revamp of Rotherham's Town Centre College with Specialist Demolition Contractor, Ron Hull Demolition Ltd of Rotherham.
The work comprised of the demolition of a 1960s reinforced concrete and brick Two-Storey Building. Great care needed to be exercised in relation to a 'live' gas main and a linked building that is not part of the demolition works.
In addition, because of the College's Town Centre location, measures were put in place to ensure that disruption to traders and local people was kept to an absolute minimum, and to ensure the health and safety of surrounding occupants.
The whole of the demolition work was completed on time and within seven weeks, to allow Students to enrol in September.
A 50 Tonne Mechanical Excavator complete with Shear attachment was used from Ron Hull Demolition's extensive range of machines. The whole of the demolition debris was recycled at the Ron Hull Group's extensive Waste Management facilities on Mangham Road, Rotherham.
